christian joy
Celebrate it
“The Christian identity card is joy, the Gospel’s joy, the joy of having been chosen by Jesus, saved by Jesus, regenerated by Jesus; the joy of that hope that Jesus is waiting for us, the joy that - even with the crosses and sufferings we bear in this life - is expressed in another way, which is peace in the certainty that Jesus accompanies us, is with us." (Pope Francis)
Prayer
Prayer increases our awareness of God’s presence in our life. We can rest in God’s love knowing that He has plans for us, plans to give us a future full of hope.
Reflection
Reflecting and journaling are necessary to help us identify and weed out disturbances in our life, so we can align or re-align our life with God’s true plans for us.
Discernment
Discernment helps us make good choices in life which in turn open our hearts and minds to collaborate with God so His plans for us can be fulfilled.
Popular Catholic Prayers
Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
christian dignity
Respect it
"Christian, recognize your dignity and, now that you share in God's own nature, do not return to your former base condition of sinning.
Never forget that you have been rescued from the power of darkness and brought into the light of the Kingdom of God" (CCC 1691)
The Miraculous Medal
A VERY BRIEF SUMMARY
The proper name of this medal is the Medal of the Immaculate Conception. It was manifested by the Blessed Virgin Mary herself, in an apparition to Sister Catherine Labouré on 27th November 1830. It was only two years later, on 30th June 1832, that the first batch of two thousand medals were made and distributed in Paris.
Its popularity spread rapidly because of the many wonders it worked; conversions to the faith, recognition of the will of God, repentance of hardened sinners, dangers averted, recoveries from illnesses, peace in homes, and many more. Soon, the faithful began calling it the Miraculous Medal.
“O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”
In her vision, Sister Catherine saw the Blessed Virgin standing on a globe with her feet crushing the head of a serpent. The Virgin’s fingers were adorned with rings set with gems of varied sizes, which emitted dazzling rays. The Blessed Virgin said, “Behold the symbols of the graces I shed upon those who ask me for them.” She saw an oval shaped frame formed around the Blessed Virgin, on which appeared in golden letters: ‘O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.’
Then Sister Catherine heard a voice said, “Have a medal struck after this model. Those who wear it will receive great graces, especially those who wear it around the neck. Graces will abound for those who wear it with confidence.”
Suddenly, the vision seemed to turn and she saw the reverse: a large letter M surmounted by a bar and a cross. Beneath the M were the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, one crowned with thorns and the other pierced with a sword.
The twelve stars on the reverse was not mentioned in any written account of the vision, but she described it to her confessor by word of mouth.
Sister Catherine Labouré died peacefully on 31st December 1876. She was beatified by Pope Pius XI in 1933 and canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1947. Her incorrupt body lies in the chapel where the apparition took place. It is located at the mother house of the Daughters of Charity in Rue du Bac, Paris.
